Day 21 – Backlinking

Wow, has it really been 3 weeks since i started this challenge? It really doesn’t seem that long ago. Well anyway here’s my week 3 update. I have signed up to Build My Rank and currently have 32 150 word articles on my account, 28 of which have been published. It is actually quite amazing really, because I don’t have any more than 3 backlinks to each of my pages (obviously some less) but I currently have 4 keywords on pages 2-4 of Google. Is Build My Rank really that good? What do they do that give results like this? Over the next few weeks I am going to try and reverse engineer what it is that they do and understand the concept.

As of yet I still haven’t started with any other form of backlinking, I am really dubious about submitting articles to directories because of the issue back in the early part of this year (Panda Update). There is a lot of negativity going round about it. Your thoughts would be appreciated on this matter. I have joined a couple of forums relating to my niche and started to try and get recognised on there (I have not put my website on there yet because I want to build some credibility first).

One thing I have put a fair amount of research into this week was link wheels, it is actually something that I believe can be very powerful, but it’s about finding the right sites to use. There has also been some question as to the effectiveness of the blog sites you use. For example:

I have seen many posts saying that yourdomain.blognetwork.com will give little to no link juice in a link wheel compared to blognetwork.com/yourdomain. The theory is that the first blog, Google will actually see it as a new site not just a page on an aged domain.

With this in mind I have managed to locate some blog networks to start my link wheel, here they are if you would like to give it a go too.

- Squidoo.com

- Hubpages.com

- Blogskinny.com

- Blogwebsites.net

- Blurty.com

- Opendiary.com

- Thoughts.com

- Upsaid.com

- Blogigo.com

- Blogtext.org

- Wikyblog.com

I have now received all my articles from TBV Writing and I am really happy with them. I am now in the process of gradually putting the remaining 15 on my website over the coming weeks/months in order to give Google the impression my website is constantly being updated.

I asked a friend of mine to have a look at my website and be completely honest with what they think works and what they think doesn’t. He sure ripped it a part (not really), but I was happy with the feedback, it actually gave me more focus on what the visitor wants. So from this I have toned down my colours and sized down my fonts in order to give the visitor a better experience.

That’s all for this post, hopefully over the next week I will see some more great results from Build My Rank.

Day 16 – Off Page SEO

Posted by Conners | Posted in 6 Sites in 6 Months Challenge | Posted on 24-08-2011-05-2008

I just wanted to give you a heads up on how my off-page SEO was going. As you will see from my last post I have decided not to go down the AMAutomation route as advised by Mark Ling in his Affiloblueprint course. I have put in some hard revision over the past few days to make sure I don’t make too many mistakes (mistakes are inevitable). I have been through posts on the affilorama and warrior forums, both of which are full of really knowledgeable people with so much information it actually scares me.

On the warrior forum I found a post by the user Electron Plumber, which was about him comparing 5 different SEO methods to see which one would come out on top. In short he made 5 websites all targeting the same keyword, and all with 3 – 4 pages. This really interested me, so I spent about 2hours just reading the 300+ posts in the thread. The SEO methods he was trialling were BuildMyRank, UniqueArticleWizard, 1WayLinkSite, LinkAlohaSite, and his own method. He is currently 4-5months into this experiment and there has only been 1 clear winner through the whole time, BuildMyRank. Within just 5 weeks his keyword was on page one of Google, this is a keyword that Electron Plumber believes to be a 4/10 for hardness to rank. Currently this keyword is rank number 2, and that is with only 70 x 150 word articles submitted.

If you are just starting out like me, you may not realise how easy it is to write 150 word articles. Let’s just say, in the time it has probably taken me to write this post, I could probably have written 5 or 6. If you are looking for your next link building service I strongly recommend you check Electron Plumbers blog out, I assure you that you will not be disappointed.

With the above in mind, as you can imagine by the way this post is going, I decided to go with Build My Rank. They have a 15 day trial where you can post 10 free articles, so in the first 24 hours I have filled those 10. As soon as they are all published to their blog network, I intend to purchase the monthly billing for 5 Domains $59p/m (this is the lowest choice, but ideal for me as I only have 1 website at present).

I am just over 2 weeks into my online quest, and I am fairly pleased with my progress. Hopefully over the next 4 weeks or so I should start to see my pages creeping into the top 50, if this happens I think it will be $59 well spent.

Please note: the links to build my rank in this post are my personal affiliate links, if you just wish to go through a none affiliate link, please google build my rank.

Day 11

Posted by Conners | Posted in 6 Sites in 6 Months Challenge | Posted on 19-08-2011-05-2008

1

The last few days have been fairly productive, I have now recieved the first 15 articles from TBV Articles. I went through each article in turn to edit them so that they were to my way of liking.

I have loaded all 15 articles onto my web page and gradually over the last few days made sure they were all monetized and had the correct on page SEO. Using traffic travis, 10/15 pages with A+, the worst page had a B+ and this was only because I had to edit the keyword so that it made sense in the meta desription (no big issue really).

I also decided to run my keywords in Traffic Travis to see if they were ranking yet, not expecting but really just to put a marker on TT. To my surprise, after just one day of the articles being online one of my keywords was ranking at #46, a promising start considering I have done no back linking yet.

The plan for the coming days is to start creating articles to submit to directories, create articles that I can spin many many times. I would also like to source a website like Article Market Automation, I am not going to use AMA because there have been a lot of negative reviews lately and its a fair amount of money if your not getting good benefits.

So thats the update so far, my offline life is getting busy aswell. I am busy looking for a new apartment as I have to relocate for my new Job, there has been no official start date yet but I hope its soon, I want my new car!

Week 1

Posted by Conners | Posted in 6 Sites in 6 Months Challenge | Posted on 14-08-2011-05-2008

So week 1 is basically gone now, wow that was quick! I am just waiting for TBV Writing to send me the first batch of articles, shouldnt be too long now.

What have I done in week 1:

- Keyword research
- Keywords submitted for articles to be written
- Domain Bought
- Hosting Bought
- Website Layout Complete (pending articles)
- Keywords up on Website in preperation
- Website pinged
- Header for website done

Hopefully by the end of week 2, the bulk of this website should be finished and it will be a case of seo from that point forward (aswell as a few alterations on the web pages).

This is just a short update, because I am obviously trying to focus all my spare time on my business. Spare time is hard to come right now, I have just found out I got a new job at work (offline). This job is going to be a huge learning curve itself, the next 6months are going to make or break me. The money and perks are awesome and aside from affiliate marketing its doing what I love to do.

Keep following, this is happening.

Day 1 – Keyword Research Site 1

Posted by Conners | Posted in 6 Sites in 6 Months Challenge | Posted on 08-08-2011-05-2008

Today is the start of my challenge, I have been at work all day with my normal day job, I am currently a sales engineer. But I have managed to put 4 hours of work into producing my list of keywords. My first website is going to be on the Weight Loss niche as it is something im familiar with so it was easier to know what to look for.

I have just submitted all 30 keywords to TBV Writing for 500 word articles, $6 an article is an absolute bargain. I will report back my review as when I recieve them.

Just so you all know I have a £800 budget for this challenge (about $1200). As I said previous all money earned in the first year will be re-invested.The target end date is 8th February.

The Road Begins Here

Hi everyone, welcome to my first of many blog posts. A little background on me, my name is Conners I’m 23 and live in Wiltshire England. I first gave affiliate marketing a go 2 years ago and actually had my first site online, unfortunately due to some serious personal issues i had to shelve my ambitions to be successful online. After splitting up with my fiance I was at an all time low, the only things keeping me going, my amazing son Austin, and my awesome family and friends. Well that is a distant memory now, and to me the only way is up.

Well I am back and ready to give Affiliate Marketing another blast, I sit here thinking about where I would have been in terms of my online success if I could have just stuck with it through the tough times. Nothing is going to stop me this time round, I want to, and WILL succeed.

3 years ago I was looking at any and every way that I could make money online, never thinking it was going to be hard work. All these get rich quick schemes screamed out to me, and yes i got suckered in on quite a lot. Until one day I was chatting with a friend online and he recommended a course called AffiloBlueprint, $197 was quite a lot of money for me but he did a lot of persuading, and to be honest it is well worth the money, I have learned so much, I just need to follow it through with everything. This time round I am going to action everything i learn, the key word of this project being “action”.

Starting out I find it extremely important to set goals, I have seen a few others setting themselves goals on their blogs and I think it is really important to do so. For starters I have set myself 2 goals:

1) Within 6 months I want to have 6 active online niche sites to the affiloblueprint formula.

2) Within 6 months to be making a constant income of $300 per week. All my income will be re-invested back into my online business for the first 12months.

Bare in mind, that although I do have a little experience of creating a website, it is very limited so I’m starting basically as a newbie with nothing.

I would love you all to follow me on my progress through the tough times and hopefully my rise to being a successful affiliate marketer. I am aiming to provide inspiration to you in the same way people like Clayton and Ashton have given me motivation with their blogs.
